Coach Eric Coblentz is a former Division 1 college basketball player who competed at the University of Akron and Malone University. He has a passion for individual training and skill development. Currently, Eric coaches the 8th grade blue team. He believes basketball is more than just a game—it teaches kids teamwork, how to overcome failure, and how to handle challenges, preparing them to thrive in the real world.
Coach Jaz Drake is a former collegiate athlete with over 15 years of basketball experience, including time at William Woods University. Coming from a basketball coaching family, Jaz has carved out a path in coaching, fueled by a passion for teaching life lessons through the game of basketball.
Coach Marcus Fontenot boasts an impressive athletic background, having played basketball at Southern Arkansas University. After college, he went on to compete in semi-professional football for four years. A native of Louisiana, Marcus also has extensive experience in AAU basketball. His diverse sports career enriches his coaching, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to the game.
Coach Gary, co-founder and co-owner, brings a wealth of experience and a rich background to our team. Joining the army at 19, Gary showcased his athletic prowess on the all-army basketball team before playing professionally for two years in the Korean basketball league. His journey continued in Afghanistan, where he met his future wife during another deployment. Together, they run a successful roofing company. After returning to the states, Gary coached at Lyman High School and has continued to inspire young athletes ever since. A dedicated family man, he is passionate about giving back to the community and is renowned for his motivational speeches that uplift and inspire everyone around him.
Coach Jacobus is currently in his second year as the girls' head coach at Oviedo HS and leads the girls' side of the Oviedo Magic. His leadership has brought about a culture shift at Oviedo HS, with the team winning 11 games in each of the past two seasons and his 8th-grade team clinching the Dynasty Hoops summer tournament. Coach Jacobus, a former NAIA basketball player at Geneva College, balances coaching with his role as a healthcare sales director. He and his wife Jessica, married for 22 years, have three children: Lilly, who is committed to playing basketball at Flagler College, Cruze, who plays on the 8th-grade team, and first-grader Riley.
Coach Christian is the dedicated co-founder and co-owner of our coaching organization, where he expertly manages the scheduling of practices and tournaments, as well as overseeing all financial aspects. A true family man, Christian is deeply rooted in the Oviedo community. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, and moved to Florida in 1991, where he met his high school sweetheart. They married and decided to make Oviedo their home to raise their family in 2003. He is a stalwart supporter of all local teams, embodying the spirit of community and commitment. Christian's personal life is as fulfilling as his professional endeavors, making him a beloved and respected figure both on and off the court.
Coach Nicole White has been immersed in basketball throughout her life. She grew up both watching and playing the game and has now transitioned into coaching, with about three years of experience. Nicole is dedicated to teaching not only the fundamentals of basketball but also essential life skills that extend beyond the court.
